Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in South Africa, but it is also one of the most well-studied.

Around 70% of all breast cancers are actually first found by either the woman herself or her partner. A number of different techniques can then be used to investigate the breast lump or abnormality further, from the initial examination which may lead to a referral, to the more detailed techniques that confirm the diagnosis of breast cancer and provide information about ways in which it can be treated.

1 in 29 women will develop breast cancer in South Africa.
